CEED will have many elements. The foundation of the program is built around its educational components. Students may earn either a Concentration in Entrepreneurship within the BSBA program or a Minor to complement their selected field of study. A set of Core courses and Five Elective courses on Entrepreneurship will make up the initial curriculum beginning in the 2016 – 2017 academic year.
In addition to these exciting degree options, CEED will also hold Entrepreneurship Workshops that will be open to the entire Catawba community and feature topics from Business Planning to Funding to Making the Pitch.
Beyond the educational aspects, CEED will be building out both a business incubator (CEED Venture Program) and a business accelerator (CEED Catapult) at the Cannon Student Center at Catawba College. Students, faculty, and other members of the Catawba community who have business ideas will be able to apply for acceptance into these programs and get important help in developing and launching them.
“You never know where the next great business idea will come from, so why not here?” says Ketner Dean Jay Abraham. “Even if we don’t find the next Facebook, the learning experience for our students will be incredible and will help them in their future business careers regardless of the size of the ultimate organization they join.”
CEED is developing a strong Mentor Network, made up of successful entrepreneurs and business people from the alumni and local community. Mentors will be matched with startups and provide guidance to the entrepreneurs.
It will all be located at the new CEED Lab headquarters, in the Whitener Room.
The CEED space will have its Grand Opening on April 13th, 2016.
The CEED Program has an area for everyone from full enrollment in the Concentration in Entreprenurship program to our Workshops and Speaker Series that are open to all students at Catawba College as well as alumni and the community.
