CEED: Concentration in Entrepreneurship

The Entrepreneurship Concentration focuses on the development of the critical core capabilities associated with the successful creation of a new business as either as a traditional entrepreneur or as an intrapreneur in an established larger organization. It is grounded in the concept of “experiential learning”, defined as “learning through doing and reflecting”.

These capabilities are:
Critical Thinking
Entrepreneurial Leadership and Management
Idea Generation and Opportunity Recognition
Resource Acquisition

The major goals/objectives of the Entrepreneurship Concentration include:

  • Ensuring students gain a broad understanding of the fundamental processes for conceptualizing and implementing a new venture.
  • Providing an understanding of and the skill set required to engender teamwork and drive innovation, in a largely unstructured environment.
  • Educating students in the key skills specifically required for entrepreneurial success, including Business Plan Development and Pitching, Entrepreneurial Finance, Entrepreneurial Marketing, and Developing an Entrepreneurial Organization.
  • Providing a range of Experiential Learning opportunities that reflect the “real world”.
  • Helping to provide post-graduation pathways in a range of specializations including social entrepreneurship, ecommerce, and technology.
